IT Foundation Program

Campus Availability: Online, Knoxville, and Chattanooga

The IT Foundation Program is a two-and-a-half-month program offering hands-on classroom computer training and vendor certification preparation for entry to mid- level jobs as computer PC and/or network support specialists. Students will learn how to analyze and secure PC and network data, configure network settings, and evaluate network performance. The training content is based on the following industry certification standard: CompTIA A+ and CompTIA Network+. This program includes hands-on instruction, eLearning, labs, exam preparation, exam vouchers, test pass insurance, online resources, resume and interviewing assistance.

The goal of this career training program is to prepare you for entry to mid- level positions such as Technical Support Analyst,
PC/Desktop Support Technician or Help Desk Support.

CompTIA A+

CompTIA A+ Certification 200x167

This course provides the background knowledge and skills you will require to be a successful A+ technician. It will help you prepare to take the CompTIA A+ Core Series certification examinations in order to become a CompTIA A+ Certified Professional.

  • Demonstrate baseline security skills for IT support professionals
  • Configure device operating systems, including Windows, Mac, Linux, Chrome OS, Android and iOS and administer client-based as well as cloud-based (SaaS) software
  • Troubleshoot and problem solve core service and support challenges while applying best practices for documentation, change management, and scripting
  • Support basic IT infrastructure and networking
  • Configure and support PC, mobile and IoT device hardware
  • Implement basic data backup and recovery methods and apply data storage and management best practices

CompTIA Network+

This course builds on your existing user-level knowledge and experience with personal computer operating systems and networks to present the fundamental skills and concepts that you will need to use on the job in any type of networking career. CompTIA Network+ helps develop a career in IT infrastructure covering troubleshooting, configuring, and managing networks. 

Network+ ensures an IT professional has the knowledge and skills to:

  • Design and implement functional networks
  • Configure, manage, and maintain essential network devices
  • Use devices such as switches and routers to segment network traffic and create resilient networks
  • Identify benefits and drawbacks of existing network configurations
  • Implement network security, standards, and protocols
  • Troubleshoot network problems
  • Support the creation of virtualized networks
